 Mission and Objectives:

The aim of the EU Affairs committee is to discuss and issue coordinated opinions on European-level developments affecting the MET industry, such as EU Directives and ECJ rulings on employment and social policy related issues.

Education, Training and Employability

 Mission and Objectives:

The Education, Training and Employability committee’s objective is to provide a forum for education and training experts in the MET industry to identify and discuss current issues facing the workforce. The committee aims at producing coherent and coordinated positions and advice focused on equipping our current and future workforce with the skills to compete in the global marketplace.

Health and Safety

 Mission and Objectives:

The committee on Health and Safety provides a forum for the industry to exchange information and discuss major national and European developments in the area of “health and safety at work” which are of interest to the metal, engineering and technology-based industries, as well as to develop current and future employers’ positions and strategies. Further, the H&S committee formulates CEEMET positions, if possible on the basis of concrete (company) examples, on EU-initiatives in the area of health and safety at work. The committee also works in partnership with other organisations to meet shared goals.

Industrial and Employee Relations

 Mission and Objectives:

Industrial and Employee Relations are a core responsibility of CEEMET and its member organisations. The objectives of the committee are chiefly to discuss current and future employers’ positions and strategies; discuss in detail trade union current and future strategies as well as employers responses to them (national and EU) and assist the Directors’ Conference by preparing position papers and advice about the relationship between CEEMET and the EMF on industrial and employee relations issues.

Socio-Economic Trends

 Mission and Objectives:

The committee for Socio-Economic Trends provides a mechanism for CEEMET members to exchange a range of socio-economic and labour cost-related information, data and trends for the mutual benefit of CEEMET members and their member companies. The committee also carries out an in-depth study of a specific topic each year, chosen from current issues facing the MET industry. The committee will, from 2009, also be responsible for publishing an annual overview of industry facts and figures.
