Education and Training
One of the most important challenges we face in Europe today is equipping our current and future workforce with the skills to compete in the global market place.
 |
CEEMET is firmly of the view that it is neither desirable nor, indeed, sustainable for European industry to try to respond to the challenges from the emerging economies simply through wage competition. Our strength must lie in skills, quality and innovation. It is vital that our workforce is equipped to meet the needs of companies and the challenges of both globalisation and ever increasing technological changes.
This can only happen through the provision of high quality vocational and occupational training, including the development of and support for apprenticeship systems. This must be supplemented by ensuring a better orientation of young people towards industry - an issue which is becoming increasingly important due to demographic changes.
CEEMET is committed to life-long learning. | The need for ongoing training and development is the key to achieving more secure and enriching jobs.
Selected European education and training initiatives that CEEMET is involved in:
- EQF - European Qualifications’ Framework
- ECVET - European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training
- Adult learning
