For Europe to maintain an innovative and competitive manufacturing industry, ensuring the availability of highly-qualified young people is crucial. How can we best prepare tomorrow’s workforce? 

The CEEMET conference 'Bridging the Gap between Manufacturing Industry and initial Vocational Education and Training' took place on 3 February 2010 at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), hosted by the EESC Employers' Group. 

There were approximately 100 participants on the day from industry, the European institutions, sector associations, trade unions, government representatives, and trade unions contributing to active debates with the speakers from the two panels under the leadership of  moderator Jacki Davis.
